More Bush rationalizations

“War Is Peace, Freedom Is Slavery, Ignorance Is Strength.”- George Orwell

This is the new Bush doctrine. Just watch his speeches and this will seem exactly like 1984. By the way go see V for Vendetta it is what the administration wants you to do.

The City Of Calabasas Think’s That Banning Smoking Outside In Public Is Logical…Oh Boy

I am speechless. Not in the way where I am unable to speak but in what local government considers to be important. If you have not heard by now, it is now illegal and punishable to an upwards of $500 dollars for smoking out in public in Calabasas. Not only is the law unconstitutional when did liberals decide that acting like their hated conservative counterparts is justifiable? Not only is this new law imposing on civil liberties (the right to kill ones self) but it is opening a scary reality in which people will slowly condone the depletion of civil liberties as they exist today. It is not an issue that second hand smoke can kill but do we need a law stating that outdoors for goodness sakes, a person can enjoy a cancer stick if they so choose to. Yes, many people including myself detest having to breathe smoke from smokers. Yet I have enough sense to either ask them politely to put it out or to just move 10 feet away from them and avoid it altogether. It is like saying to people don’t drive your car because it omits air polution which harms all of us a greater deal than cigarettes can anyhow.

What makes this law even more inane is that it was prposed by a 19 year old who was uncomfortable sitting outside on a patio at a restaurant. A 19 year old who barely is old enough to vote decides to make other peoples lives miserable because they cannot get the courage to either sit inside or just ask the smoker to put the cigarette out. Common sense is hard to come by these days but acting like the end all be all of what is socially acceptable is not the way to go about things. One would think that Calabasas city hall would have better things to do than come up with non-crimes and hunt down every potential smoking threat in the city of Calabasas. I must remind you the reader I do not smoke but I find it as a slap in the face to civil liberties and the constitution which states it is legal to smoke in California. The law itself is beatable in court anyways because the city of Calabasas has no actual right to change a state law. What is even more unbelievable is that the sale of cigarettes is still completely accepted in Calabasas yet no one is allowed to smoke them in public. As you can see the law was created with thought that “hey look we can finally rid ourselves from people who smoke cigarettes outside in my personal space”. The only problem is what happens when people start telling you that you can only drive your car to and from work? Or that you can only be out till 10 at night? These things seem far fetched but when you examine how something such as civil liberites come into play and you see them disapear from the Patriot Act and now this law against smoking in Calabasas it makes you wonder how much freedom we have left.

3 Years Later and Hello Civil War

It is one day closer to the end of the Bush administration yet no one seems as antsy as I am for the insanity to end. I know people hate hearing my politics and that I am not well read enough to point fingers but I beg to differ. It has come to this country’s attention that the war in Iraq is now a complete failure. Civil war has broken out and no one in theCivil War in Iraq Bush administration wants to fess up to the utter failure that is “Operation Iraqi Freedom”. Now almost 3 years later we sit in a position that rivals Vietnam. Not necessarily in the amount of American deaths, but in how the war was illegally orchestrated and how it ultimately has ended up costing billions of dollars and has made us much weaker in foreign policy as well as many other important facets which protect the American people.Mission accomplished?

My New Blog…..now with surround sound

Hey all! I figured since I have been lazy about that whole updating thing I would make it as simple as possible for me to update anytime anywhere. So here it is Jeff Can Write is now Jeff Can Blog. Because Blogging is trendier than writing. As we all know, writing is much more of a pathway to self exploration. Which ironically enough is dangerous. So here is the new blog and I will try to write something everyday to keep this thing a float and interesting. Mahalo
